Last Friday and Saturday, I was proud to be a part of the IU organ department’s annual Choralfest. This is an opportunity for all of us to show our enthusiasm for the sacred side of our work: all of the conductors and organists are current students (and most of the singers as well). I was so thrilled to be able to put together a lot of the repertoire with the help of my friend John Stender and some other good folks for this (almost) entirely American program and to trot out some favorite pieces including Amy Beach’s sublime Evening Hymn and the spectacular Ives Psalm 90.
